What is a DJ Music (Record) Pool?
A DJ Music Pool which also known as a DJ Record Pool is a collection of music used to distribute latest promotional music from record labels that DJs can use to play in nightclubs and events such as weddings, parties, festivals and even on the radio. Record labels send the latest music to various pools across the word and in return the pools provide feedback to the labels. DJs usually pay a monthly subscription fee to join a pool and in return they are given access to download latest music as mp3s. There are a number of music pools across the world and most exist as websites.
The first known DJ Music Pool was established in the 1970s by David Mancuso around the time became popular. The service which was initially distributed vinyl records was meant to help DJs access latest music without having to deal with record labels directly. The music pools increased over time and grew into CD distribution networks and later moved online services known as digital pools.
